DOMESTIC MINISTRY IN NORTH CAROLINA IS DONE! We are officially done with actual ministry on the Race.
Ministry this week consisted of building bunk beds Monday and Tuesday at the base, and working on an Adventure Relief couple’s (Chris and Sarah’s) yard the rest of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The bunk beds weren’t Ikea type beat. We were measuring, cutting, and drilling all the wood together. It was awesome I ate that up. Chris and Sarah just moved into a new house after spending a few years helping with disaster relief in a trailer with their four kids. We built a boarder for the backyard filled with gravel, a gravel sidewalk, an above-ground garden, and a boarder around the house to fill with mulch for a flower bed. We had this guy named Amsey (Sam) help us the whole week. He used to be part of a Mennonite community, but he left a few years ago to follow the Lord in freedom. It was really sweet hearing his testimony. My team was with Steadfast on K squad for Tuesday and Zach and Jack Boone from K squad for the rest of the days. We ended ministry on Thursday and went out to ice cream. Chris paid for us all which was so sweet. Ministry was hard work dude. I’m thankful for all the energy God gave me. I was able to slow down and appreciate Him even as I was shoveling gravel or drilling wood in the sun. It also reminded me why I wanted to go into engineering before the Race, which was really fun to feel that come back around.

Monday was Kat’s birthday!!! I wish we had more time to celebrate her today, but we were able to get her a cake and cookies and she got to go to Taco Bell.

Tuesday and Thursday we went to Excel College to eat dinner and hangout with the students. We did worship and listened to a testimony Tuesday night. Thursday afternoon, Keith from our first domestic trip drove up from Alabama to see us!! This guy made a big impact on me in Mississippi, so I’m really glad I got to talk to him for a bit.

Friday morning, we packed and cleaned. Some people from L squad were leading worship and I joined to play kahone. DUDE IT WAS AWWWEEEEEESOOOOMMMEEEE. God was actually cooking so much in that spontaneous space. We started driving home at 1:00pm and got back around 6:00pm to set up our tents 😳. Some of us then went to the laundromat because we had some nasty clothes.
Saturday I sabbathed hardcore. I spent a lot of time with God in the morning with my guitar, then walked around the back trails of the base. My squad then had a final cookout together.

Domestic was a pretty crazy week emotionally because I was battling a lot of things in my own heart. Praise God since now I know I can go straight to Him and talk to Him. He is the healer of my heart. Ministry felt pretty good physically, but there was a lot going on behind the scenes which made it feel heavy at some points throughout the week. Personally, processing that the Race is coming to an end in a week has been lingering in the back of my head, and it feels like it should just be over, but I know God has more He wants to do.
I have faith that He will move these last couple days in Georgia, and He won’t stop there.
