UMMM PRAISE GOD FOR AN AMAZING FIRST REAL WEEK OF MINISTRY!

Tuesday was my team’s actual first day of ministry!! We got dropped off in Sampango where Loyda (our ministry host) met us, and we all walked to the Reindom base. We came in, and saw that they had a little meal prepared for us! We played a game and ate our food, then got a tour of the house. Afterwards, we took vans to the Reindom house in Santa Marta where we went with our parents last time, and we split up to clean and cook. After cleaning, I went with Oliver (our other host), Ava, Kat, and Lexi to do a house visit. We trekked up a hill to the house, talked to the lady who was there for a little bit, then prayed for her and went back. When the kids arrived, we served them food, then I went with Emery and Kat to clean the dishes for the rest of the time. The kids are actually SO amazing. After ministry, we went home and did worship with the short term team of dads who are here for a week.

On Wednesdays, we help at a different ministry called Pilas in Sampango, where we do the “Kingdom Table.” I went out with the host Barb, one of the teachers named Darlin, and Jaylynn, and we went around reminding people that it’s Wednesday so they would know that they can come get food and have a Bible study. I was mainly with the men that were downstairs. We worshipped, listened to a sermon, and then celebrated two men’s birthdays! Afterwards, the women upstairs were learning how to crochet, so I went and tried to help to the best of my ability. We finished at Pilas, then went back to the Reindom base and ate our lunch/took naps. We went from there to the village for a VBS kind of thing with the kids. Loyda and Oliver taught us some choreography, then we did it with the kids. We sadly had to leave in the middle of it, but it was SO cute. That night the Project Mood Curve with our passport pictures was installed.

THURSDAY WAS ACTIVATION! The worship this morning was actually insane along with Mae’s message, and after we had a time to get prayer. Not gonna lie I felt funky after, but it turned out to be so good spiritually. For ATL, I went out with Ava, Naty, Kat, Jaylynn, and Lexi to Sampango, and we went to meet up with a Mormon guy named Elder Ross, and his friend Elder Vega to talk about the differences in our faith. It went so well! They mainly answered our questions, but we got to share some things about Christianity if they asked. I hope we were able to show God’s love to them, because that’s the main thing they’re missing.

Friday we went to the Reindom house in the morning where we did prayer and worship. UHHHHHH SO GOD TOTALLY ENCOUNTERED ME HERE. Yesterday what I got prayer for at activation was freedom from comparison, and I felt a total difference after that specifically for worship. They also prayed that God would clearly speak to me and that I would allow the Holy Spirit to teach me what that actually looks like for me personally. Before ministry this morning, I was walking around listening to worship, and I got a thought saying that God speaks to me through worship. HUH?! So at the Reindom house, we were listening to one song and it actually felt like God was singing over me, and it felt actually so comforting. SOOOO I’ve been trying to hear from Him all these different ways, where the main place I connect with Him anyways is where He’s been trying to meet me. Ohhhh my gosh duh dude. But anyways that was AWESOME, then we went to the village and did the thing that we did on Tuesday, except I cooked, then went to play soccer with the kids. I went to sit down with a few girls after one of my games, and they asked if they could do my hair. Of course I said yes, so about 7 girls all started braiding my hair. I felt like Rapunzel it was SO CUTE, and they actually made my hair look really cool.

Saturday our ministry got cancelled, so my team did ministry here, AKA bed making and giving notes to everyone. After that, almost everyone left the base, so I stayed home and was with the Lord pretty much the whole day. It ended being super refreshing 🙂

Sunday, I went to Antigua with Emery, Naty, Lexi, Caleb, Brandon, Christian, and Alia. We attended Shoreline Church which was actually an English service. There, we saw a bunch of people that we know which was fun! The service was awesome, though the sermon was on the screen. I’m really happy I understood it though! After church, we went out to lunch at a taco place, then I went to Starbucks with Christian and Alia to get some things done. I came home after, and just hung out for the afternoon.

This was SUCH a great first week of ministry!!! The squad has been battling a lot of things spiritually since getting back from debrief, but we’ve decided to go on offense and actually attack what the enemy is trying to do here. I am so encouraged because God revealed so many things to me this week. The fact that He speaks to me through worship is just the first stepping stone to hearing Him more clearly. YAY! That’s actually been my prayer since forever. I’ve been praying about my future a lot more this past week, and there is a direction I’m heading. I want to be obedient to Him, so if this isn’t the direction He’s taking me, He’ll make it clear. SO WE’LL SEE!
On to another week in Guate!
