HEY HEY! Alleah Dubs back with another update from Malaysia š
Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā We had another busy week like normal. We started off like normal with ministry Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, teaching our smart kids more English and math. My team and I got to go to night school again, like we did two weeks ago, on Monday. There we did some simple learning and ended with a few games.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Thursday was Halloween as well as Diwali. If you donāt know, Diwali is an Indian holiday celebrating the god of light, which is not our God lol. So going into Thursday then Thursday night we did a āprayer burnā where a few people per hour signed up and prayed for peace and protection because of the darkness of both holidays. Something that was cool about Diwali was at midnight, fireworks went off EVERYWHERE. It was cool to see how even in the midst of a dark holiday, God can still shine through in something beautiful.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Halloween was super fun with the squad. Our hospitality team threw a āFall Festā party where we all ate snacks together, then we did a fashion show after. I continued the yearly tradition of watching The Great Pumpkin and ended the night watching Hotel Transylvania.Ā Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā This weekend we had the opportunity to travel to Penang, Malaysia for an adventure. At first I said no because I felt like I wouldnāt get rest if I went, so I settled on staying back at the church. But I changed my mind and Iām SO happy because even though I probably will be exhausted going into the week, I wouldāve 100% regretted not going. We arrived and I ate the most BUS spring rolls of my entire life. I had six haha. Then we went to Penang Hill and the view was gorgeous. It reminded me a little bit of home being able to overlook the city. Also Aliya and I DEVOURED this strawberry ice cream so fast and I donāt think Iāve ever experienced anything that delectable before. We ate some McDonaldās for dinner, then went to our air bnb where I spent the night in a bed hehe. Today (Sunday the 3rd) we went to the beach! It was sooo gorgeous and the water was very warm. We ended the night going to church downtown and my friends Gabi and Bella spoke some fire messages. Even though itās midnight and Iām writing this driving home Iām so happy I went.
Ā Ā Ā Ā We got some CRAZY news this week. So on Wednesday during everyoneās individual team time, we found out that our squad will be split up for the duration of our time in Thailand, which is about a month and a half. There were some mixed emotions. It really is going to be so sad being apart from the entire squad especially since weāve been the absolute closest in proximity than weāll ever be during this country. Overall though, I LOVE my team and Iām pumped to dive into more of those intentional relationships. Also my ministry is going to be in Chang Mai, where we will be helping in a disabled childrenās home. But then on Friday we got another announcement: Weāre going to be split up during Europe also! HUH. BUT GUESS WHAT. The rest of M quad is going to Albania, and MY TEAM IS GOING TO GREECE!!!!!!!!! This means Guatemala, besides the week long debriefs, will be the only other time the whole squad is back together. Man itās going to be tough but God has a plan and Iām so pumped.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Starting tomorrow Iām going to do a three day fast. I feel like Iām hitting a wall spiritually where I feel like I need to do something physically uncomfortable so I need to actually lean on God. Heās seriously blessed me so much and Iām still in great health! I just feel like I could be in such a deeper relationship right now with how much Iāve read the Word this week. Please be praying for me. Ever since wrestling Iāve never been more grateful for food and I know itās going to be hard for me not to complain while I fast. Iāve had Matthew 6: 16-18 come up a few times this week which I think is my clarification. Even though itās only three days, Iām excited for how this is going to push me and I know God is gonna cook.
Thank you all for your support. Only two more weeks left in Malaysia.
