Officially finished with overseas ministry on the Race. 😭

Playing games for team time

Tuesday, since our Reindom ministry is finished, we went with team Radiant to their ministry in Parrojas. We were up bright and early to leave at 6:15am, where we drove to the same location my parents and I served at for PVT. We helped distribute food to kids for the first bit, then prayed for the hosts, and finished off with house visits. That night we had a little dance party on the basketball court, we had an awesome team time where we just played telephone, then I went in the prayer room with Carter, Bella, Maya, Karis, and Jackson.

Complete mural

Wednesday we had our last day at the Kingdom Table with Barb and Gerry. Today, we helped the women assemble a mural of a garden, representing their unity as a body. We also celebrated Barb because her birthday is on Saturday, so after lunch we ate cake and sang to her.

ATL with Lee!

Thursday was our very last activation 😭😭😭. Philip gave a message on finishing well. MY HEART WAS POUNDING HOLY IT WAS SO GOOD. For ATL, today we all went to Antigua specifically to minister to English speakers. I went with Lee, and we prayed over a German couple who were actually Christian too! At a coffee shop called 12 Onzes, I had a debrief with my team.

Us messing around while waiting for Mae and Greg to get paint

Friday for ministry we stayed at the base to help Hannah, Mae, and Alexis with tidying up the newly built shed. We moved a lot of things from different parts of the base to the shed, and moved nasty boxes to the trash. That was finished pretty quick, so a few of us when to get paint in Chimal. In the afternoon, my team and I decided to dress up to make edits of each other lol. We put on makeup like we haven’t done in a while, so we all looked pretty different.

Boys and Girls dance

Saturday, we went over to Barb and Gerry’s house for birthday party for Barb/cookout to process the race. Gerry showed us around, and we played a Guatemala version of The Game of Life. We then ate hotdogs, potato salad, and coleslaw for lunch. They asked us each about what our expectations were before the Race, and what we’ve learned. We got some cake and sang to Barb, then they gave us some wisdom on what we were all saying. I had so much fun with them, and it was actually so encouraging to receive their wisdom. That night we held the “Boys and Girls Dance” which has been an ongoing bit for like a month. Everyone got “dressed up,” and we danced the night away you could say.

Sunday I went to Junior’s church in Parramos with a few people. After, Jaylynn, Carter, Mollie, Lauryn, Jackson, and I went to a park next to Junior’s house for his kid’s birthday party. We got there and helped a little bit, then went over to a zip line. Jackson ended up jumping off and really hurt his ankle, so we were figuring that out for a while. He found out later that he tore a ligament which fractured his bone, but he was having a good attitude and we’re praying it’ll heal quick. After we got Jackson back over, we ate some BOMB food. We sang happy birthday to Mateo, then ate cake and talked to Junior and his family. We got home and Jaylynn and I ate spaghetti with Mollie, then we made cookies. I watched Tangled with a few people in the main room to end the night.

It was a pretty good week overall! I felt weird spiritually a lot of the time, but when this has happened before I’ve just doubted God, so I’m learning how to trust Him even when I don’t see or feel Him. I’ve been asking for Him to refine me and take me through the fire in general, so I’m sure this is it. Relationally though, I feel like I’ve really gotten to love my team and squad in general this week. I’ve spent lots of quality time with everyone and wow. I’m really going to miss these guys.

We only have THREE days left in Guatemala, and Wednesday we travel back to the United States. Trying to just soak it up because I’m really going to miss Guatemala. We have been so blessed here.
